at last, a relaxing saturday...

hey all

well saturday was lovely - chilled out in the morning - did some pottering and some refining of my new york playlist - it's still not quite right yet...

then off downtown to meet john who has invited me to lunch. i've offered to read some chapters of his book and give him some advice - eek, i did tell him i'm not an editor! but i'm gonna check the spelling and stuff! and he offered to buy me lunch which was nice. so we went to the waverly diner which is a very old fashioned diner - lovely inside and the food was great - but the staff were really grumpy and quite unhelpful - which made john and i laugh a lot... in fact we laughed a lot through the whole meal and then 2 cups of coffee too.

then we didn't have plans until later so we went off and had a mooch around the west village and soho i think. was wonderful, did some book shopping, record shopping, found a market, bought a beautiful etching, in all it was just so nice to mooch around without having to dash off anywhere else... very very nice day!

went over to brooklyn in the evening to see sharon jones and dap kings play a free show in prospect park. met up with emilie and helen who had just come out from the brooklyn museum and we ended up leaving john to go into the museum and walking down through the park to the gig. which turned out to be massively oversubscribed and we ended up sitting on a dusty pavement listening to the band - boo! we didn't end up staying long as we were so far away and couldn't see anything. sounded fantastic though...

took forever to get home, as it often does from brooklyn - hey ho! got home and did a bit more holiday booking before tumbling into bed...
